The In's And Out's Of Shopping At Bath And Body Works

By Shannon Walter on February 29, 2016

Since seventh grade, when all you would wear is Japanese Cherry Blossom or Sweet Pea, Bath and Body Works has provided America with delicious scents for both their bodies and their homes.

While some may believe that Bath and Body Works is too pricey for their taste, think again! There are plenty of ways that you can save some serious money and still get exactly what you want at Bath and Body Works, and I know how important saving dough is to poor college students that still want to smell delightful. Here are a few tips from an insider.

1. Give them your phone number and e-mail. While, yes, admittedly they send you an influx of e-mails, this is your best bet in getting the most up to date sales and coupons. You will (generally) receive the same coupons that you receive in the mail PLUS extras!

INSIDER TIP: the employees ask you for your e-mail every time you shop because the more you put in your phone number and e-mail, the better your coupons get! BBW rewards their loyal customers with bigger percent-off discounts during their 20, 30, or 40 percent off sales.

2. Going along with the e-mails perks, wait for your products to go on sale! Practically every day Bath and Body Works is putting another product on sale. (Buy 3 Get 3 Free; 2/$24 candles; 50 percent off Aromatherapy; $3.50 wallflowers, etc.)

I have come across many customers who were unaware that you can use coupons on top of these sales. Meaning if you have a 20 percent off coupon, you can use that on your 2/$24 3-Wick candle deal and get them for just around $20! Considering these candles run for $22.50 EACH, this is a killer deal and one that is worth holding out for.

P.S. If you really hate e-mails, bookmark Bath and Body Works sale page on their website to keep up to date with their sales.

3. Did you get to the store excited about your coupon only to realize that it doesn’t start until tomorrow?! Never fear! Bath and Body Works has a three day grace period for all of their coupons, meaning that whether you are within three days early, OR three days late, Bath and Body will take your coupon with no questions asked.

4. BLACK FRIDAY INSIDER TIP: Black Friday is the ONE day that you can stack your various coupons at Bath and Body Works. While you can generally stack the coupons that were sent together, on Black Friday, you can stack any coupons that you have in your possession (so long as they are valid, of course).

Even if you have multiples of the same coupon, you can absolutely use them! You just have to qualify for each coupon, i.e., if you have three $10 off of $30 coupons, you must spend $90 to get the $30 off.

5. Bath and Body Works Tote Bag Specials. In my personal opinion, Bath and Body Works is the perfect present for just about anyone, especially those people who you feel obligated to buy a gift for, but aren’t close enough with to know what they would want. The Bath and Body Works tote bags that come out every once in a while (generally around holidays) are a perfect way to stock up on gifts you might not even know you need yet.

Generally these totes are a part of a deal in which if you spend $30 you get the bag for $25, therefore spending around $55 total, BUT these tote bags run at retail price for over $100 and generally include a 3-wick candle, body cream, shower gel, fragrance mist, soap, etc.! While you may not feel like tacking on an extra $25 to your total, reconsider because these deals are too good to pass up.

6. In addition to the Bath and Body Works tote bags, these are a great deal that’s made even better by the “love it or bring it back guarantee.” This guarantees you can trade out any scent you may have received as a gift, or even purchased for yourself and trade it for a scent that you like better if you do not completely love the product!

Especially when picking up one of those tote bags with a fragrance in it that you might not “LOVE,” you can absolutely bring every item back in that tote bag and trade them out for fragrances that you do love. Even if the product is used, Bath and Body Works will trade out your product for a brand new scent that will tickle your fancy more than the last.

7. And let us not forget … THE SEMI-ANNUAL SALE. Twice a year, Bath and Body Works pulls out all of the stops and discounts a majority of their store. While, no, not everything is on sale, there are a great deal of cheap items that you can get during these sales that are not available year-round.

Especially if you love those older scents that BBW might have discontinued, the Semi-Annual Sale is the one time that they bring those old scents back (such as: Dark Kiss, Sensual Amber, Midnight Pomegranate, Country Chic, etc.). PLUS they are AT LEAST 50 percent off!

8. Last but not least, if you are looking for a part-time job (and especially if you are a frequent flyer at Bath and Body) get a job there! Mainly around the winter holidays, they hire a vast amount of people! This is an awesome way to save at Bath and Body Works because you get a 30 percent off discount! (Now, to be honest, this only applies to full-price items, and you cannot combine it with other coupons). But, let’s be honest, 30 percent is 30 percent.

PLUS you get this discount at all of the stores owned by Limited Brands … that’s right, this includes VICTORIA’S SECRET. This discount comes in most handy if you love VS considering hardly any of their items are ever on sale — so 30 percent can go a long way at Victoria’s Secret.

Well there you have it folks! Happy lotion and candle shopping to you all, and to all a good night!
